Earth Shield is a quick, gentle game about rescuing space animals near Earth. Tap an incoming space rock before it reaches the glowing shield. Breaking the rock frees its animal friend, who arrives safely on Earth. The shield is a game story, not a warning that a real asteroid is heading for Earth.
Play your first round
- Open Rockimals and choose Games, then Earth Shield. On your first visit, follow the three short practice steps on the real game field: tap a space rock, see the rescued friend reach Earth and try a helper power. You can replay the tutorial later.
- When the round starts, watch for an animal riding an incoming space rock. Tap the rock to break it and rescue the animal. Some larger rocks may need more than one tap.
- Watch the glowing shield around Earth. A rock that reaches it uses some shield energy. There is no need to rush a young child: use Pause and Resume whenever you want a break.
- At the end, read the friendly summary together. It shows how many animals you rescued, how many rocks reached the shield, your score and time. You can start another round if you still have play time.
As you guide more visitors clear, levels and helper powers appear. Freeze is available early; Repair and Pulse unlock later. You do not need to master them before enjoying the first round. Try asking, “Which animal should we help next?” rather than chasing a high score.
How much can you play for free?
Earth Shield includes 3 minutes of free active play each day. Pausing or viewing the tutorial does not use that active-play counter. When today’s allowance is used, the game shows a summary; a fresh daily allowance is available on the next local day. An active Rockimals Plus subscription includes unlimited Earth Shield play. Purchase options are shown to adults behind the parent gate; check the terms in your own app store before choosing a plan.
Rockimals uses real near-Earth visitor data for its space animals, with sample data when offline. The tapping, shield energy, powers and rescues are playful fiction, not a simulation of a particular asteroid’s real path or of how scientists defend Earth. Rockimals is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by NASA.
Version note: The Games entry, gameplay, first-play tutorial and daily allowance were checked against Rockimals 1.5.6 release source on 2 November 2026. The UK App Store listed 1.5.6 that day; the public Google Play listing did not expose an independently verifiable Android version. If your installed screen differs, follow the labels shown in your app.
